In this workshop designed for experienced site supervisors, participants will discuss critical supervisory skills for managers in educational, recreational, and site-based programs. Participants will share best practices that are meaningful and action oriented for this phase of their careers—where professional trajectory, specializations and workplace advancement are critical for continuous learning and success in adults. Supervisors will discuss the following topics on a weekly basis with an emphasis on leadership and skill-building in youth development operations: (1) Career Strategic Planning, (2) Effective Site Programming, (3) Operations Management, (4) Hiring Practices, (5) Data and Evaluation, and (6) Non-Profit Executive Management.

Participants will also reflect on day-to-day managerial and operational challenges, and explore current trends in workforce development. The Advance Site Leadership Course is specifically designed for experienced and veteran site directors with many years of experience on the ground and in the field because the needs of these professionals are often not met after they have been trained and met the traditional requirements of the job. This workshop series is created to build the skills of managers and leaders who would like to engage in strategy building around career potential, operations and programming in youth development, hiring practices of youth leaders and workers for today’s marketplace, the explicit use of data and evaluation, the managing of teams and leaders, and expanding the possibility on their own career trajectories.
